Hemline is a creative marketing, communications and branding agency in Memphis, Tenn., looking for an experienced art director to join our team. With 16 years under our belt, and a roster of dynamic clients ranging from nonprofit to b2b, growing retail to Fortune 500, the art director position at Hemline is your opportunity to work on a range of projects in an energetic and collaborative, creative environment. What you’ll do:
Create effective design to support clients’ objectives and brands.
Create campaigns that work across a variety of mediums and platforms, both traditional and digital, 3D and special events-related.
Meet with client service teams to ensure concepts are on target and in line with the creative brief and client goals.
Meet tight deadlines and continuously communicate with the client services team on project status.
Work with other Hemline art directors and designers in a collaborative manner to create the best solutions for our clients.
Commission and supervise specialists, such as illustrators, photographers and interactive developers as needed.
Work and manage within the clients’ budgets and timelines as set forth by the client services team, effectively and competently managing revisions.
Make decisions and establish work priorities to meet deadlines and accomplish tasks.
Properly prepare files for production, working with client services to gather estimates for outside costs, and supervising production through completion.
Stay in the know on industry trends in graphic design as well as in client sectors, researching competitors and topics in order to present strong creative backed by thoughtful rationale.
Work with owners to prepare and pitch RFPs and attract and retain new business.
What we’ll look for:
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or Graphic Design
Minimum 7 years’ experience in art direction and/or graphic design
Leadership skills in managing junior art staff, delegating appropriate tasks and outlining time management
Ability to solve problems using strong conceptual skills, keen design instincts and organizational experience
Ability to carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision
Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
Ability to take and give constructive criticism well
Ability to prepare final production files
Good presentation skills a plus
Well-developed typography skills (with knowledge of visual hierarchies) desired
Proficiency in Mac OSX (latest version) and Adobe Creative Suite 5 (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator proficiency and efficiency REQUIRED); Microsoft Office, namely PowerPoint
